Statement from SAFE Communities Coalition on AAP & APHA lawsuit

Defending Science, Access, and the Public’s Health

American Families for Vaccines stands in support of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Public Health Association, the physician and expectant mother serving as plaintiff, and the coalition of medical and public health organizations courageously bringing suit against HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

This case raises a fundamental question: Will the United States continue to ground our health policies in scientific evidence and expert judgment, or cede that responsibility to political appointees advancing ideologically driven narratives?

RFK Jr.’s actions—removing qualified experts, suppressing CDC and FDA communications, and reviving long-debunked vaccine myths—represent a coordinated effort to erode trust in vaccines and undermine the very foundations of evidence-based medicine. These actions threaten the health of every American and must not go unchecked.

We are proud to work alongside AAP, APHA, and other leading organizations who are among the most trusted, experienced voices in medicine and public health. Their leadership has guided families, policymakers, and practitioners through generations of vaccine advancements. Their decision to take this issue to court—at a time of intense political risk and national urgency—is an act of courage and a defense of the very idea that facts and science still matter.

The Pro-Vaccine Legal Alliance, a project of SAFE Communities Coalition, supports this legal challenge as part of its core mission: to uphold the Constitution and the rule of law in defense of public health. By advancing strategic legal action rooted in constitutional principles, we aim to protect Americans’ right to live free from preventable disease and ensure our nation remains grounded in truth, science, and justice.

We urge all Americans to contact their members of Congress and demand that Secretary Kennedy be removed from office. Public health should never be compromised by conspiracy or political ambition—and this is the moment to act.
